An F-35A Lightning II aircraft assigned to the 58th Fighter Squadron approaches the refueling boom of a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 6th Air Refueling Wing of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Feb. 27, 2024. During the flight, eight F-35s received fuel from the KC-135. Aerial Refueling extends the range of an aircraft allowing it to remain airborne longer and reducing the amount of aircraft needed to accomplish a mission.
