  • 33rd Maintenance Squadron welcomes new commander

    The 33rd Maintenance Squadron welcomed their new commander in a change of command ceremony, July 1, 2021, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  Maj. Jeffrey Rodriguez took command from Lt. Col. Brian Hassler before the presiding officer Col. Ronald Llantada, 33rd Maintenance Group commander. 
  • 25 years later: Gone but never forgotten

    Today, we gather--Airmen, family and friends--in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the Khobar Towers bombing in Dharan, Saudi Arabia. The wing’s emblem, the flaming sword, stands at the center of the memorial, where an inscription reads: "This monument is dedicated to the brave warriors who were killed by a terrorist bomb at Khobar Towers, Saudi Arabia, on June 25, 1996. They made the ultimate sacrifice as guardians of this grateful nation. We shall never forget them." 
  • 58th Fighter Squadron welcomes new commander

    The 58th Fighter Squadron welcomed their new commander during a change of command ceremony, June 18, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  Lt. Col. John Easton assumed command from Lt. Col. David Cochran before the presiding officer, Col. Byron Pompa, 33rd Operations Group commander.
  • Lightning Night Operations

    Residents may experience aircraft noise June 21-24, when the 58th Fighter Squadron conducts night flying operations in the area. Each day, F-35 fighter aircraft will conduct missions between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m.  Night flying is a requirement for 58th FS training operations.   • Current PCS, household goods affected by supply shortages

    According to a newly released communiqué from the Air Force’s Personal Property Activity Headquarters, “Department of Defense demand this peak (PCS) season has greatly exceeded commercial industry capabilities, largely due to resource constraints associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Per industry, this resulted in a 25% decrease in their labor pool, resulting in (decreased) personal property movement capacity necessary to support private sector and government demand.”
  • 33rd FW hosts AIM HIGH Flight Academy students

    The 33rd Fighter Wing hosted 24 students, ages 16-20, as part of the Air Force Recruiting Service’s, Detachment 1 AIM HIGH Flight Academy program June 7-8 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The AHFA provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on flying training from experienced aviators and U.S. Air Force mentors. These instructors and mentors also provide them with information about aviation careers, flying opportunities and share their experiences as Air Force aviators.

  • 19th Air Force leadership visits the 33rd Fighter Wing

    Maj. Gen. Craig D. Wills, 19th Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Kristina Rogers, 19th Air Force command chief, visited the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, June 7-8.  Wills and Rogers visited the 33rd FW to meet with the Airmen, host a commander’s call to discuss the updates to pilot training, and learn about rated diversity and community outreach efforts conducted by the 33rd FW personnel. 
  • Seventh episode for AETC’s Real Talk focuses on LGBTQI+

    Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, commander of Air Education and Training Command, to host the seventh episode of AETC Real Talk: Race and Diversity in the Air Force, June 17 at 3 p.m. Central time, CDT, on AETC’s Facebook page. The episode will focus on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex population within the Air Force. Joining Webb for this discussion will be Brig. Gen. Brenda Cartier, incoming AETC’s director of operations and communications.
  • ‘Red Air’ preps Lightning

    From May 3-14, visiting F-15C Eagles from Kingsley Field, Oregon, took on the role of “Red Air” against 33rd Fighter Wing F-35A Lightning II.
