AETC runners fare well in Air Force Marathon Published Sept. 28, 2006 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AETCNS) -- Air Education and Training Command-sponsored runners fared well in the 10th Annual Air Force Marathon held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Sept. 15The AETC Men's Relay team placed first in the open division with a time of 2:47:59. The team of Mark Roberts, Derek Rowe, David Max and Randy Lund was comprised of members from Sheppard AFB, Texas. The AETC Women's Relay team, Dora Caniglia, Tenaya Goc, Kristin Sajevic and Kate Bufton from Laughlin AFB, Texas, placed third in the open division with a time of 3:43:43. In the individual runner category, T.J. Moser, from Randolph AFB, Texas, was 45th overall and eighth in his age division with a time of 3:07:12. Philip Cushman, from Luke AFB, Ariz., was 61st overall and 15th in his age division with a time of 3:13:20. Rebecca Welch, Maxwell AFB, Ala., placed 180th overall, and fifth in her age division with a time of 3:39:29. Mary Simmons, Luke AFB, was 350th overall and fifth in her age division with a time of 3:56:40. The Air Force Marathon is held annually around the Air Force's anniversary. The marathon path takes runners past the Air Force Museum, Air Force Institute of Technology, the Wright-Patterson AFB flight line and the Wright Brothers Museum. The marathon is open to the public and featured more than 5,000 competitors from around the world participating.
