"The Air Force's goal this year is to bring together a diverse group to grapple with a significant issue facing the United States Air Force and our Sister Services," said Lt. Gen Stephen R. Lorenz, Air University commander. "Counterinsurgency is a complicated issue that certainly demands our attention and action." The three-day symposium will focus on counterinsurgency operations across the full spectrum of conflict, featuring prominent guest speakers and experts on counterinsurgency. Keynote speakers scheduled for the event are Gen. Ronald E. Keys, Air Combat Command commander, Maj. Gen. Richard Newton III, Air Force Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements and Maj. Gen. Donald C. Wurster, Air Force Special Operations Command deputy commander.
