AETC announces top Airmen

RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --  Air Education and Training Command has announced its top Airmen of 2006.

The winners were chosen from among 25 nominees identified by leadership at their home stations as the best professionals in their categories.

"As the first command, we recruit, educate and train America's Airmen," said Chief Master Sgt. Mark R. Luzader, AETC command chief master sergeant. "To accomplish this task we search our Air Force for the finest combat-proven Airmen in service today and bring their talents to bear on developing tomorrow's warriors. These Airmen are a testament to the excellence that permeates this command."

After reviewing nomination packages and conducting a final selection board, AETC officials selected a winner in each of seven categories. The AETC Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2006 are:

Senior Noncommissioned Officer:
Master Sgt. Clifford Kinchen, Airey NCO Academy, Tyndall AFB, Fla.

Noncommissioned Officer:
Tech. Sgt. Donald Wagnon, 42nd Air Base Wing, Maxwell AFB, Ala.

Airman:
Senior Airman Linn Aubrey, 59th Medical Wing, Lackland AFB, Texas

First Sergeant:
Master Sgt. Gregory Weymouth, 37th Training Wing, Lackland AFB, Texas

Honor Guard Program Manager:
Staff Sgt. Jesus Canales, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB, Ariz.

Honor Guard Member:
Senior Airman Zahi Abi Chaker, 59th Medical Wing, Lackland AFB, Texas

Recruiter:
Staff Sgt. Jason Rodriguez, 344th Recruiting Squadron, Killeen, Texas

"These Airmen are our best of the best," said Gen. William R. Looney III, AETC commander. "They personify why Air Education and Training Command is a command of choice with great opportunities for all. I wish them success in the Air Force competition."
