AETC announces 2007 Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award winners Published June 14, 2007 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command is pleased to announce the following Air Education and Training Command 2007 Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award winners: 56th Maintenance Group Cannibalization Dock, 56th MXG, Luke AFB Ariz. Luke Air Force Base's mission is to "train the world's greatest F-16 fighter pilots and maintainers, while deploying mission ready war fighters." The 56th MXG supports this mission by providing maintenance on 191 F-16s for the Air Force's only active duty F-16 training wing. The 56th MXG generates 36,000 sorties and 50,000 flight hours per year, which is pivotal in conducting safe and efficient training and results in the graduation of 350 pilots into the combat Air Force each year. Additionally, the 56th MXG directly contributes to Luke's second mission, training more than 400 mission ready F-16 crew chiefs each year. The 56th MXG deployed 55 Airmen to nine locations for 2,150 days in support of the Global War on Terrorism. C-130 Engine Compressor Wash Hose Cart Project, 314th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Little Rock AFB AR. The mission of the 314th AMXS is to service, inspect, maintain, launch, and recover 42 assigned C-130E aircraft, thereby enabling the 314th Airlift Wing to execute its mission of training all U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, and selected foreign national personnel in C-130 aircrew operations. The time and cost savings generated by this initiative are significant as well as repeatable year after year. Engine wash man-hours were reduced by 945 hours in the six months since implementation with a cost savings of $72,000 to date. It is projected that an 1,890 hour manpower and $140,000 cost savings annually is achievable in the future. Since the advent of the C-130 engine compressor wash hose cart, it has been benchmarked by three maintenance units in the continental United States. Furthermore, it was recently fielded by the Iraqi Air Force to maintain its C-130E aircraft in Baghdad which are used to support requirements for the elected Iraqi government, the Iraqi Army, and miscellaneous Operation IRAQI FREEDOM missions. The command congratulates both teams for their many accomplishments and wish them luck at the Air Force-level competition.
