Wilford Hall Medical Center's safety team ranks "outstanding"

59th Medical Wing receives ?excellent? UCI rating

59th Medical Wing receives 'excellent' UCI rating

LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 59th Medical Wing received an overall "excellent" rating during a Unit Compliance Inspection outbrief conducted at Wilford Hall Medical Center June 23.

"It is not often that we see an organization that has no 'unsats' or 'marginals' in any area," said Col. Monty L. Brock, Air Education and Training Command inspector general.

The AETC UCI team evaluated the 59th MDW for more than a week scrutinizing various programs and observing exercises.

There were five major areas examined and rated.
Of the five areas inspected, Commanders Items and Medical Programs received an overall "excellent", three other major areas received an overall "satisfactory."

The inspection team individually recognized the following individuals with UCI coins: Mr. Ron Little, Maj. Rashon Gilbert-Steele, Master Sgt. Laura Herring, Tech. Sgt. John Ospina, Senior Airman Jeff Wallace, Airman 1st Class Ashley Dandridge and Airman 1st Class Trisha Olson.

Team awards were given to the In-Place Patient Decontamination Team, Manpower Team, Medical Control Center Team, Patient Administration Team and 59th Medical Wing Safety Team.

General Travis expressed his gratitude to all wing members for stepping forward and making the UCI such a success. He specifically praised the 59th MDW Safety Office, the exercise evaluation team, disaster preparedness team chiefs, group UCI points of contact and overall UCI project officers, Lt. Col John Brooks and Chief Kahapea.

"It is an honor for me to serve with each of you, and I am really proud to be your wing commander," said General Travis. "You really excel in everything you do."

"This is a place of great spirit, a place of real pride and I'm extremely proud of what you do for your country," said General Travis.
