Combined Federal Campaign kicks off at Eglin Published Aug. 30, 2007 By 2nd Lt. Jim Lambertsen 33d Fighter Wing Public Affairs EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Combined Federal Campaign kicks off at Eglin AFB on Sept. 24 and runs through Nov. 2. "The CFC was established in 1961 and is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country," said Captain Natasha McCabe, 33d Fighter Wing CFC project leader. "Last year, the federal employees and military from Eglin Air Force base donated $678,000 to the CFC." The CFC benefits thousands of charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Air Force Memorial Foundation and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital to name a few. Military members and federal employees can choose whichever charitable organizations they wish to donate to by filling out a pledge card. "According to officials, on average, one in four federal employees or their dependants will benefit from the CFC charities this year alone," said Capt. McCabe. This year's campaign motto is "Your support ... Priceless," and the 33d FW goal is to raise $49,000 during this annual fundraising campaign. "If we come together as a wing and a Nomad family, we can easily help contribute to the various agencies," said Capt. McCabe. Each squadron in the wing has its own CFC coordinator along with the head project leaders Capt. Natasha McCabe and Lt. Sarah Flackus. The squadron and unit-level coordinators are: Tech. Sgt. Bruce Jones, 33d FW Staff; Master Sgt. James McPherson, 33d Operations Group Staff; Senior Master Sgt. Jay Mason, 33d Maintenance Group Staff; Master Sgt. Moses Johnson, 33d Operations Support Squadron; Lt. Zack Hughes, 58th Fighter Squadron; Capt. Jason Trew, 60th FS; Master Sgt. Bo Pennington, 728th Air Control Squadron; Master Sgt. Ty Frye, 33d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron; Master Sgt. Michael Sufnar, 33d Maintenance Squadron; and Staff Sgt. Corneice Jackson, 33d Maintenance Operations Squadron. Each coordinator is trained to answer questions on the CFC and assist with gathering pledges.
