Staff Sgts. Jesse Schrader, left, and David White, both of the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla., each carrying a 50-pound ruck sack led a group of 30 combat control students from the 334th Training Squadron as they passed by Keesler Air Force Base. The pair had just begun their portion of a roughly 824-mile ruck march from Lackland AFB, where their training begins, to Hurlburt Field AFB, where their training culminates. On Oct. 6, 12 Airmen, each carrying a commemorative baton engraved with a fallen Airman's name, began the memorial ruck sack march in honor of 12 fallen special tactics teammates killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Six two-man teams relay through five states 24 hours a day averaging nearly 20 miles each segment, ending with each team walking roughly 150 miles. (U.S. Air Force photo/Kemberly Groue)
