The men and women of Team  Blaze took time Sept. 25 to say thank you to the men and women who have retired from service in the armed forces.

This year's Columbus AFB Retiree Appreciation Day saw visitors drew visitors hundreds of miles away learn about Columbus AFB, base services and opportunities for retirees.

Nearly every organization on base, from the commissary to family housing, from the legal office to the local Air Force Association chapter, had information booths at the event showcasing their services to retirees. In addition, those attending received a tour of the base.

During lunch, the retirees were greeted by 14th Flying Training Wing Vice Commander Col. George Ross who thanked them for their service. He also thanked many of them for their continued service as volunteers at Columbus AFB, while also encouraging everyone to volunteer, whether on-base or in the community.

The Columbus AFB Retiree Appreciation Day is held each year in the fall at Columbus AFB.
