Throughout over seventy-years (activated) history, “Nomads” accomplished numerous firsts for the Air Force and have played a crucial role in maintaining the security of the nation skies and participated in its largest contingencies…they relocated to different corners of the U.S. and the world projecting air superiority and taking the fight to the nation’s adversaries…today Nomads carry-on the tradition of excellence by providing the Air Force with combat ready F-35 pilots, Maintenance personnel, Air Battle Managers, Weapons Directors, and F-35 Intelligence professionals.

LINEAGE, HONORS AND EMBLEMS

The 33d Fighter Wing's lineage and honors are based on historical facts most affecting the unit. These are found in letters from the Department of the Air Force and orders published by Major Commands directing organizational actions or awarding of unit decorations. Unit emblems are registered with the US Army Institute of Heraldry to ensure the historic representation of the units are maintained. The Organizational History Branch of the Air Force Historical Research Agency provided narrative information, Lineage and Honors Statements, and emblems included within.
