Colonel JACK R. ARTHAUD

Colonel Jack R. Arthaud is the Commander, 33rd Fighter Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He leads F-35A Lightning II flying training and hosts the F-35 A/B/C maintenance training for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and seven international partners. He is also responsible for U.S. Air Force and international air battle manager training at Tyndall AFB, Fla, and intelligence formal training at Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field, Fla. The 33rd FW is home to 29 F-35As assigned to the 58th Fighter Squadron and is currently reactivating the 60th Fighter Squadron to better serve the Combat Air Forces, ultimately bringing the total number of wing-assigned F-35A aircraft to 56.
 
Colonel Arthaud graduated from Whitworth College with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and was commissioned through Officer Training School in 1999. He attended undergraduate pilot training at Vance AFB, Okla. and went on to the fly the F-15C Eagle. The colonel is a 2017 National Security Fellow, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and a 2019 Seminar XXI graduate, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 
Prior to taking command of the 33rd FW, Colonel Arthaud was the Commandant of the United States Air Force Weapons School at Nellis AFB, Nev., in charge of training expert officer and enlisted tactical instructors and leaders to integrate air-space-cyberspace power across all warfighting domains through 40 graduate-level-accredited academic, flying, and operations courses across 31 aircraft and weapons systems. Previously, he served as the Senior Air Strategy Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Strategy and Force Development. In this capacity, he co-authored the Department's premier strategic guidance—2018 National Defense Strategy—as an NDS core-team member. The colonel previously commanded the 18th Operations Support Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan.
 
Colonel Arthaud is a combat pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours in the T-37, T-38A, AT-38B, F-15A/C/D, F-16D, E-3B, AC-130J, C-130J, HC-130J, HH-60G, MQ-9, U-28, CV-22, B-2, B-1, B-52, C-17, KC-135 and F-35A. He has flown combat missions in Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, deployed for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as well as led homeland defense missions Operation NOBLE EAGLE.
