Lieutenant Colonel Paul Szostak is the Commander, 557th Flying Training Squadron, 306th Flying Training Group, Colorado Springs, Colo. In this capacity, he is responsible for the daily execution of all aviation activities meeting five distinct missions supporting the United States Air Force Academy. There are 16 active members, nine civilians and nine Reservists assigned to the 557th FTS. The annual budget exceeds $155,000, supporting more than 12,600 flying hours and 700 students.

Lieutenant Colonel Szostak graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in May 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1996 he earned a Master of Education degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
