COLONEL ROBERT I. MILLER

Colonel Robert I. Miller is the Command Surgeon and Director, Medical Services and Training, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. He is responsible for a staff consisting of 61 personnel, both military and civilian, providing strategic planning policy, assessment and resources for AETC's 12 medical units, employing in excess of 10,000 individuals serving more than 500,000 beneficiaries. He advises the AETC Commander on all health-related matters. Colonel Miller also allocates and plans for the use of combined operations and maintenance, military personnel and TRICARE contracts totaling more than $6 billion. He is responsible to the AETC Commander and the Air Force Surgeon General for the education and training of Air Force personnel in all medical career fields.

Colonel Miller entered active duty in 1985 as a Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences medical student. He is board certified in both general pediatrics and developmental-behavioral pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Senior Flight Surgeon. In addition to clinical positions, Colonel Miller has previously served as a Chief of the Medical Staff at the facility and major command level, a squadron commander, group commander, and a unified combatant command surgeon general.

Colonel Miller received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts. He is also a Certified Physician Executive and a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives, and American Academy of Pediatrics.  Prior to his current position, he was Command Surgeon, U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany.
